Action Against Hunger

DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT FOR COMMUNITIES: Disaster losses and risk are concentrated in developing countries where most of the poorest live. In these countries, marginalized and discriminated groups are particularly vulnerable to disaster and undernutrition.  Without disaster risk management, families can experience self-reinforcing spiral of poverty, undernutrition and further disaster risk. ACF advocates for integrated DRM at community level that expands on the humanitarian mandate to help solve world hunger, poverty and vulnerability to disaster.

This policy aims to define the issues of disaster risk and the different approaches to manage risk, outline the current and likely dynamics of disaster risk, and present the commitment of ACF for DRM in communities.
